The Iraqi parliament elects al-Halbousi as its speaker

Baghdad, SANA- The Iraqi parliament, in its fifth legislative session, re-elected today Muhammad al-Halbousi as its speaker.

The Iraqi Council of Representatives, in its fifth legislative session, re-elected Muhammad al-Halbousi as its speaker today.

According to the Iraqi News Agency, "Ana", Al-Halbousi received 200 votes, compared to 14 votes for his rival, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani, while 15 ballot papers were considered invalid.

Parliament members also elected Hakim Al-Zamili as first deputy speaker of the parliament.
