Jibril Rajoub and Ziad Nahala will meet as part of a series of meetings of the Fatah delegation in Lebanon and Syria • According to Rajoub, the meetings "will deal with a strategic vision according to the decisions of the Central Committee and the Fatah Revolutionary Council"

A Fatah delegation will hold a series of meetings with Palestinian organizations in Syria today (Sunday), the movement's secretary general, Jibril Rajoub, confirmed last night.

The delegation, which arrived in Syria on Thursday to meet with Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Maqdad, will arrive in Lebanon tomorrow, where its members will meet with Islamic Jihad secretary general Ziad Nahala.

According to Rajoub, the delegation will meet with senior members of the Popular Front, the Popular Front - General Headquarters and al-Saqqa.

He further noted that the meetings will deal with a strategic vision in accordance with the decisions of the Central Committee and the Fatah Revolutionary Council. Rajoub stressed that agreement with PLO factions will not be at the expense of factions outside it, such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad.

In recent months, countries in the region have begun to re-tighten relations with the Syrian regime, with which ties have been severed following the civil war that erupted in 2011. During the visit, the Fatah delegation marked the 57th anniversary of its establishment.

During their visit, members of the delegation will also travel to the Palestinian refugee camp al-Yarmouk, which was under siege by the Assad regime after the rebels, and later ISIS, took over.

Hundreds of its residents and many others fled from it.

The camp was occupied in 2018 by Assad's forces.

It is estimated that between 100 and 200 residents remained.

Against this background, there was sharp criticism of the visit on social media, when many asked if Rajoub knows how many Palestinians the Assad regime killed and arrested.
