Providing regional producers who are having a hard time in the corona pandemic with a marketplace: Elisabeth Franz had this idea. Now the Holzkirchen native is trying out whether it works: with a pop-up store in Franzetti.

Holzkirchen

- communication design from Weyarn, traditional skirts from Schliersee and all sorts of second-hand trinkets: In the pop-up store in the Franzetti ice cream parlor, which is now closed for the winter, there are handcrafted products from the region - and shelves for rent.

The idea for the shop, which will open for the first time on Thursday, January 13, 2022 and close again on February 26, 2022, came from Elisabeth Franz (30), who is from Holzkirchen.

Ms. Franz, how did you come up with the idea of opening a pop-up store?

Elisabeth Franz: “I talked to friends about a second-hand concept that I like: renting a shelf by the week and putting in what you want to sell.

I wanted to try out whether that works.

At the same time, I had the idea of offering artisanal producers from the region a sales area.

Most of them don't have their own shop, but sell online and in markets.

However, because of the pandemic, many markets are not taking place.

As a result, they lost an important sales opportunity. "

How is the response?

Franz: “Downright overwhelming with the regional producers.

I keep getting more inquiries.

Unfortunately, I have to cancel them because I don't have enough space.

A total of twelve producers are now represented.

There is, among other things, alpine streetwear, jewelry made of dirndl fabrics, natural soaps, towels made of Bavarian beeswax, which are supposed to reduce plastic consumption, and meditation cushions that are made in the Wendelstein workshops of Caritas.

In the second-hand area, on the other hand, not all shelves are rented out. "

There is also a place for second-hand goods

Second-hand is still in vogue ...

Franz: “That's right.

I think that has to do with a growing awareness of sustainability.

People buy used things to save resources.

Maybe some just can't part with their old things. "

What do you advise them?

Franz: “When mucking out, it is helpful to consider whether you have used something in the past year.

Anything that hasn't been used in a year can be gone, I think.

If you find it difficult to do so, you could first pack seldom used items in a box and then put it in the attic or in the cellar.

Then you can tell if you are missing the things.

After a year you could finally discard the box. "

Second-hand clothes are not allowed to be sold in their pop-up store.

Why?

Franz: “There are already enough sales opportunities for second-hand clothing.

For example the bazaar of the Catholic women's association Holzkirchen, which also supports social causes with it.

In addition, some of the regional handicraft producers make clothes.

The second-hand goods in the pop-up shop should complement your range and not compete with them. "

Is it possible that your pop-up store will become a permanent store?

Franz: “Basically, I can already imagine that.

But that doesn't just depend on whether the idea is well received.

You also need a suitable location for this. "

Opening times and contact
