The special police investigation group "Berg", which goes back to the uncovering of a child abuse case in Bergisch Gladbach, is dissolved.
The Cologne police announced on Monday.
"The BAO Berg as this construct will be dissolved," said a spokesman.
Any remaining traces would, however, be worked through to the end in the “everyday organization”.
How many there are and what balance sheet the “Special Organizational Organization Mountain” (BAO Berg) draws from its work will be presented to the public on Wednesday.
Cologne - The BAO "Berg" had been investigating a wide-ranging abuse complex since October 2019.
In the house of a man from Bergisch Gladbach near Cologne, huge amounts of child pornographic data were found at the time.
In addition, the investigators encountered many contacts with men who exchanged videos and images of serious child sexual abuse online.
That way, more and more suspects were tracked down.
Numerous searches, arrests and final convictions can now be traced back to the BAO.
