It is a mammoth project for the district town of Ebersberg.

A project that costs a lot of money.

The general renovation of the indoor pool is progressing, everything on schedule.

A site visit.

Ebersberg

- scaffolding and fences outside, scaffolding inside - all a construction site.

If you walk through the narrow corridors of the indoor swimming pool from the 1970s in Ebersberg, some of which are poorly lit, you will find yourself in for an interesting sight between the concrete walls, the bare floor and the gray ceiling.

But the work is going on.

According to the current status, the sports facility could be reopened after the general renovation in a year plus a few months for trial operation and final inspections.

That was roughly the plan.

In terms of costs, the calculation also seems to be able to be maintained to a large extent.

In April of last year, around 8.1 million euros were expected, now around 8.5 million euros.

And that despite the general increases in the construction sector.

The building is now almost gutted. Among other things, problematic materials found such as asbestos were removed. This was made clear during a tour on Monday with those responsible. With Ebersberg's mayor Ulrich Proske, employee of the town hall and planner. “The concrete is clean and stable,” says Proske. The new roof made of specially coated metal is already on it. Because they were not available in Germany, the necessary parts came indirectly - from Belgium and England. The construction is not completely finished yet, but it should be finished soon. Because in March it is planned that the interior work will pick up intensively. Part of the technology has already been renewed. At the end of the month, the topic of bath water should be intensively discussed. Work is still being carried out on the hydraulic lifting floor.Small light tiles on the walls of the changing rooms are reminiscent of the earlier design. However, these should be removed soon.

The whole house, here the old children's pool, is a single construction site - the work is on schedule.

The legendary elements that hung on the walls of the swimming pool from the time the pool was built have also disappeared: With their shape, design and typical orange color, they were reminiscent of Otl Aicher's pictograms for the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. Swimmers are shown .

The elements are made of plastic and sheet metal and are currently safely stored.

As a symbol of contemporary history, they should be put back on the new walls in the renovated building.

To avoid confusion, photos were taken of the suspended element.

Exact plans are also available.

The technology is currently being renewed.

Incidentally, Mayor Ulrich Proske would like a kind of topping-out ceremony on the construction site, as was customary in the past - before the corona pandemic.

"Maybe we can do it now," he hopes.
