The Federal Government's coordinator for the maritime industry, Claudia Müller, described the bankruptcy of MV Werften as very sad.
The federal and state governments have tried everything to save the shipyards, said the Green politician on Monday in Berlin.
There have been intensive negotiations with the owner Genting, but unfortunately no agreement has been reached.
Berlin - Work will now be done to ensure that there is a positive outlook for the shipbuilding industry in Germany and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
You firmly believe that this is an industry of the future, said Müller.
There is great potential in the area of offshore energy, also for the shipyards.
"We are facing the challenge of making shipping climate-neutral." This will be discussed with the state and industry in order to develop ideas.
These are well-paid industrial jobs.
There are other shipyards in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania that are working very successfully.

The MV Werften in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania filed for bankruptcy on Monday.
The cause are the financial difficulties of the Hong Kong parent company Genting, especially as a result of the Corona crisis.
The negotiations between the federal government and the state on the one hand and MV Werften and Genting on the other on a rescue package had not led to any result.
As a condition for new aid, the federal government had asked the owners to make their own contribution.
