The areas planted with wheat in As-Suwayda Governorate, since the beginning of the current season, have reached more than 11,200 hectares, mostly for rainfed cultivation.
The Director of Agriculture in As-Suwayda, Engineer Ayham Hamed, told SANA reporter that the cultivated areas constitute about 33 percent of the plan so far, because the lack of rainfall so far in the required manner has affected the cultivation operations that are still continuing until the end of this month and may extend to the next month in some high areas.
Hamed pointed out that the plan to plant the wheat crop for the current season amounts to 34,600 hectares, of which 34 thousand hectares are for rain and the rest for irrigated.
