Decade for "There is a Future": Dizzying Success and Resounding Failure Israel today

2022-01-10T22:09:46.171Z

Lapid managed to form a living and vibrant party, but then came the last six months, and with it the attainment of power, and destroyed everything.

The 13-minute video uploaded by Yair Lapid six days ago on Facebook, in what was called the "Party Conference," but is actually intended to mark a decade since the establishment of "Yesh Atid," will support researchers and political book writers.

There was a classic "Lapidism" - a virtual event that includes a flag, logo, tight graphics, impressive rhetoric, a school for standing in front of a camera, messages about the future of our children and grandchildren, somewhat polished humor, stories about the family living room and "Nique Dropping" in the "Ricky Cohen" style From her room, "this time called" Rosie Stauber, a Holocaust survivor who will get what she deserves. Lapid spoke of the party "here to stay", he promised that "it will be after us too".

He believes in himself and it must be said that he also succeeded quite well.

But then came the last half year, and with it the attainment of power, and destroyed everything.

The decade to have a future can be summed up in four words: "dizzying success and resounding failure."

Lapid succeeded in setting up a real party in a place where almost everyone had failed.

Israeli politics has known countless "atmosphere parties" - center parties that disappear from the political map in a short time.

There was a change of Father Torch, the retirees, Kadima, all of us of Kahlon, and more.

All of them reached beautiful achievements and were erased within a few years.

Lapid, on the other hand, managed to form a lively, vibrant party, with an active area that includes 133 local staffs, ten horizontal staffs and tens of thousands of voters.

Dizzying success when it comes to Israeli politics.

But not everything is rosy.

For an entire decade, in every election campaign, interview, speech, activist conference or faction meeting, Lapid put "other politics" as the central thing.

He talked about "new", "clean", "honest" politics.

Then came the rule.

For only six months, Yair Lapid clashed with almost every election promise he made: he promised another government with 18 ministers, and formed a government with 28 ministers. Came out against Norwegian law - but the current government has increased the number of Norwegians. He fought for the distribution of coalition funds, which he called "dark deals," but his own party took coalition funds in the highest amount (NIS 41 million), including a distribution for the care of stray cats. He came out against ministers who do not come to work - and he himself did not come to the Corona Cabinet. He attacked the appointment of associates - and became entangled with the appointment of his sister-in-law to the JNF and another relative to a position in the Zionist Organization, and this is only a small part of the cruel abuse that the archive transmits to Lapid and Yesh Atid.

In Israeli politics it is impossible to predict even one day ahead, but in a rough estimate it can be said that the next decade of Yesh Atid has great potential.

In two years, Lapid will enter the Prime Minister's Office, where security incidents or epidemics could significantly strengthen him or overthrow him.

And yet, in the end it is still unclear whether Lapid will already be able to keep his promise to "other politics."
