The poetry festival, which was hosted by the branch of the Arab Writers Union in Tartous Governorate, honored the Syrian poets who won the “Jerusalem is Ours” international competition for the year 2021.

The festival, which was held in cooperation with the International Adabna Foundation, was entitled The Path of the Two Martyrs and was attended by writers and interested parties. It included honoring 11 poets from the governorates of Tartous, Homs and Lattakia, who won the competition prizes after they competed with their texts with 350 literary texts from nine countries.

Ahmed Tarfi, representative of the International Adabna Foundation in Syria, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the competition held by the Foundation during the Al-Quds Conference comes to commemorate the second anniversary of the ascension of the martyrs Major General Qassem Soleimani and Hajj Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis.

Munther Issa, head of the Writers Union branch in Tartous, pointed out, in turn, that honoring the winners during this festival and inviting them to read their texts that speak in their entirety about resistance, martyrdom and martyrs is an affirmation of the presence of literature in perpetuating the approach and symbols of resistance.

The poets, in turn, stressed the importance of the competition and the value of the award presented to them, and what it means to pay more attention to the culture of resistance, as mentioned by the poet Azzam Issa, who won through his poem Jerusalem, while the writer Ali Asaad, who participated in the poem “Separation of the Discourse,” considered that these forums and literary activities have a role Significant in developing the bonds of culture and literature among creators from various countries.

The writer Ahlam Ghanem saw that her participation in the poem The Sun Parade is an embodiment of the intellectuals' belief that Jerusalem will remain the eternal capital of Palestine, considering that receiving this award under these difficult circumstances is the culmination of great achievements for resistant poetry and a glimmer of hope for more giving.
