The seven-day incidence of corona infections in Rhineland-Palatinate at the beginning of the week is higher than ever since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. The state investigation office determined a value of 327.7 on Monday - after 315.5 on Sunday.
The previously highest incidence was registered on December 3 of last year with 322.1 new infections per 100,000 people within a week.
Mainz - The State Investigation Office stated the proportion of the Omikron variant in the pathogens examined in the laboratory for genetic characteristics as 73.8 percent.

Corona infection has currently been detected in 27,021 people in Rhineland-Palatinate.
The incidence of hospitalization fell from 2.88 to 2.59.
Despite the increase in infections, this value for new hospital admissions of Covid patients per 100,000 population has recently changed little within a week.
The number of reported deaths from Covid patients rose by 13 to 4,712.
