Will the Oktoberfest 2022 be brought forward to summer due to the corona pandemic?

Fürth cannot currently imagine bringing the Kärwa forward.

Nuremberg - will the Oktoberfest 2022 take place in summer?

Munich is currently considering moving the Oktoberfest forward because of the Corona * pandemic, as reported by several media.

The proposal comes from Bavaria's Deputy Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger.

He is toying with it because the number of infections is lower in warm temperatures.

Could the Michaelis parish fair be brought forward to July?

One cannot imagine that in Fürth at the moment.

Munich's Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter was not quite able to get used to the idea either, as

nordbayern.de

writes.

The report said that a city council committee would like to make a recommendation this week.

Nuremberg: That speaks against moving the festival

Fürth's economic advisor Horst Müller, who is responsible for the folk festival, is also skeptical. "I still see it very critically," he says in an interview with the

Fürther Nachrichten

. At the moment it is hard to imagine and there are many reasons for it. Above all, tradition speaks against bringing it forward. "I'm an opponent of opening the door to arbitrariness," emphasizes Müller. The Kärwa begins every year on the name day of Archangel Michael, September 29, or on the following Saturday. In addition, the contracts for the stands posed a problem.

The showmen would set up their booths and rides at different festivals in different cities throughout the year.

Müller would only consider moving the Kärwa forward if an ordinance on infection protection measures should stipulate that no public festivals can take place in autumn 2022.

The economic officer would prefer if the virus is under control by then and nothing speaks against events in the fresh air.

Nuremberg: Fürth showmen against relocation of the fair

The Fürth showmen are slowly no longer understanding the Corona measures.

The situation in the industry is "catastrophic", says spokesman Helmut Dölle in an interview with

nordbayern.de

.

“This madness” has to stop at some point.

By eliminating the Christmas markets, they would have suffered massive financial losses.

In addition, some of the bridging funds announced have not yet arrived.

In principle, Dölle was also against moving the Oktoberfest.

However, if the corona numbers do not allow any other choice, the proposal will have to be discussed again.

The showmen are already preparing for the Kärwa 2022. Müller expects, however, that it could look different than usual.

He assumes that many fairground businesses have already ceased.
