Ottenhofen - In Ottenhofen, and of course not only there, a new parish council will be elected on March 20th.

But in Ottenhofen it will be a turning point.

From the previous nine-person body, only two people will stand again.

The previous chairman, Jürgen Martini, resigned from his position months ago, and this is apparently not only due to health reasons, which he certainly has.

The fact that the parish association's homepage has still not been corrected and that the interim chairman Thomas Schatz is still listed as Thomas Greckl is almost symptomatic of a parish association that largely forgot the “Ottenhofen” section as the smallest in the parish association seems to have.

A lot of frustration has built up.

As Schatz made clear in a detailed conversation with the local newspaper, it is about nothing less than a total new beginning.

And Schatz wants it to be designed in a positive and forward-looking manner.

He could understand the complaint that was heard in the political council a few years ago that the Catholic Church in Ottenhofen was no longer doing anything (we reported): "There has not been a mass in the church here for two years." Art fail, among other things, because the parish hall can only be used to a limited extent at best. Hermann Hesse's sentence, “And every beginning has a magic inherent” applies more in the Catholic Church in Ottenhofen than anywhere else. And now he is looking for committed Catholics of all ages who want to shape this new beginning.

He's not unsuccessful so far. "I have already found someone who would like to work on the committee," reports Schatz, but did not want to name any names, also in order not to put possible candidates under pressure. But of course it is not enough. The committee was reduced to four people to be elected, and to these, according to Schatz, two more will be appointed, so that there will be a total of six.

“It's a nice service to the general public,” says the interim chairman, promoting this position. When asked, he also provides specific information on the workload: a meeting every two months, that can be done, he says. Of course, the time required for the high festivities increases because there is a lot to prepare. And, similar to associations, certain offices, such as the secretary, will have to be assigned.

The next tasks are clear: "We want to bring life back to life", announces Schatz.

He also knows that Corona is of no help here, but an altar consecration should finally be prepared.

The previous committee members have agreed to help.

Then of course it is also important to revive pastoral care.

“That is something that is simply missing here.” So there will be a lot to do, and Schatz is firmly convinced that it will also be worthwhile.

useful information

The electoral term is four years.

The motto issued by the Diocesan Council of Catholics and Archbishop Cardinal Reinhard Marx is: “Be a Christian.

Think far.

Act bravely. "

If you want to take part, you are invited to contact the Schatz family at Grashauser Straße 5 in Ottenhofen.
