The Executive Director of the Syrian Telecom Company, Eng. Seif El-Din Al-Hassan, revealed that the investment plan for 2022 includes the supply and installation of internal platforms equipped with about 200,000 broadband gates and their accessories, and external ones equipped with about 130,000 broadband gates and their accessories that work with FTTC technology.
In a statement to SANA, Eng. Al-Hassan explained that the investment plan also includes the supply and installation of digital transmission equipment to expand the optical link within cities with the necessary accessories in order to link the equipment of the access networks that will be supplied within the new projects with the data exchange network, and the expansion and diversification of link methods with neighboring countries to secure international calls.
Engineer Al-Hassan stressed that the investment plan includes four main programs, the first of which is the replacement of some air networks in the governorates, the restoration of main and subsidiary networks, the rehabilitation of damaged buildings and infrastructure, the second of which is related to infrastructure, the provision of network materials necessary for the implementation of telephone networks, the expansion of terrestrial networks, and the completion of the implementation of new networks and access units and optical cables. This is due to the increasing demand for telephone services.
The third program includes the automation of the company's joints, while the last program includes projects under implementation, including the Internet service improvement project, the customer service and billing program project, and the network expansion and development project to FTTX technology through the implementation of the necessary civil and electrical works.
Al-Hassan referred to the project of moving from TDM services to IP, which includes expanding the joints of the Syrian Telecommunications Network to add 48 thousand new EMS numbers, expanding the nucleus of the data exchange network in Damascus and Aleppo, expanding the digital transmission network, in addition to expanding a messaging provider. And securing 150,000 broadband gates in various governorates and securing units equipped with optical link gates (FTTH).
Engineer Al-Hassan stated that it is planned to serve seven wireless internet sites distributed in Daraa, Damascus Countryside, Homs, Aleppo, Hama and Idlib.
