A man put his baby in a stroller at Düsseldorf Central Station in an RE3.

The doors closed, the train started - but without the parents.

Düsseldorf - The parents of an 11-month-old baby experienced a moment of shock on Sunday morning (January 9th) in a RE3 at Düsseldorf Central Station.

The father pushed the stroller and baby into the RE3.

When the man was still waiting for his wife, however, the doors of the train closed at 10:45 a.m. - and the baby was alone on the train without his parents.

Düsseldorf Central Station: Train leaves with a stroller, but without parents

The father tried to open the doors of the RE3 - but without success.

The train drove off towards Duisburg Central Station.

But the toddler was lucky, it wasn't all alone.

Attentive travelers immediately informed the train attendant.

The driver applied the brakes and put the train back on the platform at Düsseldorf Central Station.

But the parents had already set out to save their baby.

"The parents did not expect it and immediately ran down the station stairs after the exit of the RE3 to take a taxi to Duisburg main station," said the police.

They also called the police.

This in turn notified the federal police at the main train station.

The baby was handed over to federal police officers.

After a short time, the parents came to the federal police station in Düsseldorf, as the state police had advised them to do.

There was then a happy ending - and the “baby could be safely handed over to the care of the very grateful parents”.
