The Haifa Magistrate's Court today (Tuesday) extended for six days, until next Monday, the detention of Itai Ben Ami, a 21-year-old resident of Kiryat Yam, who is suspected of murdering lawyer Moshe Alenkawa of Kiryat Motzkin.

The police believe that the background to the incident is bullying, and that Ben Ami did not know at all who he was attacking.

The incident took place last Monday in the early evening, near the Galit pool in Kiryat Yam.

According to the suspicion, following a lawsuit between Alenkawa and a group of young people who were drinking at a nearby kiosk, Ben Ami stabbed the lawyer and fatally injured him.

Zevulun Station is investigating the incident and with the death of the lawyer turned the case into a murder investigation. Itai Ben Ami, who has no criminal record, was arrested the next day. Two more were questioned and released on parole. In his interrogation, Ben-Ami ties himself to place and time, but is mostly silent. He admits that there was a confrontation between him and the lawyer, during which he gave him a punch, after which he entered a nearby kiosk, where someone put a knife in his hand and told him to "lift the knife and run away."

Police investigators who also rely on eyewitnesses do not accept this explanation. "In order to escape, they incriminate the suspect here and throw him under the wheels of the bus so that they can escape and make a good deal," said Adv. Yuval Zemer, who represents Itai Ben-Ami. His 14-day detention stressed that "there is a reasonable suspicion and even more so that he committed the offense attributed to him." He extended his detention by six days, until next Monday.

On Tuesday, Moshe Alenkawa was brought for burial in Kiryat Bialik. About two hundred of his acquaintances accompanied him on his final journey, Adv. Shadi Saruji, Chairman of the Haifa District Ethics Committee at the Bar Association laid a wreath on behalf of the Bar Association. "He went out to do gymnastics and never came back," say his grieving family members. "He went out at five for a training run like he did wherever he was. As always. He went out for his sport and did not return. At nine-thirty there were police here. We have been in shock ever since."

"At first I could not speak. I was all shaking," his father, Gabriel, recalled. "He was a child of glory. He would solve everything for me and help me with everything and not just me. He would volunteer for an association for the disabled. When he was a diving teacher he also taught them, and even when he fulfilled his dream of becoming a lawyer Free of charge, for those who could not afford it. " This giving continues even after his death, Adv.D. Moshe Alenkawa carried an Eddie card and his father is proud to say that the donation of his organs will save and improve the quality of life of five people.

Alenkawa, a 43-year-old single man, born in Haifa who grew up mainly in Kiryat Motzkin, where the family moved in his youth, divided his time between Tel Aviv and Haifa, where he had an office and in Kiryat, with his parents, whose apartment he used to visit often.

"I'm waiting for them to finish the investigation and tell us exactly what happened there," the father says.

"It is very sad what is happening on the street. I heard that the next day they were wounded not far from here with a thorn in a shop. It is because the police are not strict and the judges are not strict and they know they will commit murder or another crime, take a good lawyer and take them out."

Advocate Tami Ullman, chairman of the Haifa district at the Israel Bar Association, said that "the Haifa district participates in the heavy mourning of the family."
