Bad news for the catering industry: Access restrictions are now being tightened again in North Rhine-Westphalia.

People with booster vaccination have advantages.

You will be spared additional test obligations in many areas in the future.

Düsseldorf - Because of the increasing number of corona infections, far-reaching new access restrictions will also be introduced in North Rhine-Westphalia from Thursday. Even those who have had a basic immunization and those who have recovered may only enter many areas if they also submit a negative test (2G-plus rule). As NRW Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann (CDU) announced on Tuesday in Düsseldorf, this will apply to restaurants, leisure, sports and fitness, among other things. The German Hotel and Restaurant Association rejected the tightening as a disproportionate "quasi-lockdown".

In contrast, people with a corona booster vaccination are exempted from the additional test requirement in many areas. Those who have the booster vaccination therefore no longer have to submit a test in recreational sports, among other things. This relief will also apply in North Rhine-Westphalia to those who have been vaccinated twice and have recovered, said Laumann. Just like boosted sports, you could go to restaurants or bars without having to take an additional test.

According to the statistics of the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), persons with a booster vaccination are those who have received a third vaccination with one of the vaccines from Biontech / Pfizer, Moderna or Astrazeneca or who have received a further dose after a vaccination with the substance from Johnson & Johnson. According to the RKI figures, almost every second inhabitant in NRW has received a booster vaccination - a total of more than 8.2 million.

In a number of federal states, corresponding 2G-plus rules already apply today, for example in Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and in Hesse at least in Corona hotspots.

Last week, the federal and state governments had largely agreed to tighten the regulations accordingly.

Saxony-Anhalt and Bavaria do not go along with the stricter 2G-plus rule in gastronomy.

In the meantime, NRW has almost reached the high national level in the number of registered new corona infections.

On Tuesday morning, the RKI reported a seven-day incidence of 381.7 (previous day 361.5) for the most populous federal state.

Nationwide, the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week was 387.9.
