An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale hit Sardasht, West Azerbaijan Province, northwest of Iran, without causing any human or material damage.
"The tremor occurred at a depth of ten kilometers at 35.62 north latitude and 44.95 east longitude," the Iranian news agency (IRNA) quoted the Seismological Center of the Geophysical Institution of Tehran University as saying in a statement.
In turn, Director General of Crisis Management Affairs in West Azerbaijan Province, Amir Abbas Jafari, announced that the tremor did not result in human or material damage.
An earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale hit the city of Sarkis in the Hormozgan Province, southern Iran, on December 30, without reports of injuries or damage.
