The last Petanque World Cup was held in 2021 in Santa Susanna, Barcelona.
The competition had 2,000 participants from more than 50 countries and was broadcast on LaLigaSportsTV, the Spanish platform dedicated to sport.
I have looked for these data because I have remembered that famous headline that José Gómez, a boy from Murcia, European petanque champion, gave to
La Verdad
in 2010: “I will go back to study, you cannot live with petanque”.

In an interview with Carmen Mañana for this newspaper, Javier Gómez Santander, head of scriptwriters for
La casa de papel
and a former journalist for La Sexta, says that he changed journalism to television fiction because “in journalism he could not beat it to international level and in fiction, yes ”. The play went better than well for him, so much so that his statements seem like those of a Captain
a posteriori
like that of
South Park
. You should have asked him about his plans in 2017, when the first season of the series languished on Antena 3.
You can live off the script, but it is a risky sport, a hazardous occupation in which, as in so many others —journalism included—, it is not worth it and it is very difficult to maintain itself. There are screenwriters José Gómez and screenwriters Javier Gómez. Some of the former think that they would do better in the profession with the self-esteem of the latter. I do not know, there are also screenwriters with long careers who have never been given anything and narcissists who are lost at the first change eaten by their ego. Sometimes we confuse dignity and vanity. It is a profession of few certainties, but to succeed internationally in something that appears on television, as a regular scriptwriter I am going to allow myself the luxury of recommending petanque.
