A so-called walk by critics of the corona measures on the one hand.

A demonstration against such unannounced rallies and lateral thinkers on the other side of Marktstrasse.

Bad Tölz

- The potential for conflict hovered over the spa town on Monday evening when the first supporters of the registered counter-movement to the walks at the Marienbrunnen gathered around 6.15 p.m.

The police came with a contingent of 28 emergency services - they were supported by a train from Weilheim.

After all, they expected about the same number of walkers as in the previous weeks (we reported).

This assumption also came true when around 6:30 p.m. around 700 people walked in a circle with candles, little distance and no mask from the vintner's monument to Klammergasse.

Bad Tölz: 700 unregistered participants from Monday walks and 150 registered counter-demonstrators

There was no direct confrontation between the participants from both camps.

The police positioned themselves between the two parties and did not let anyone through for the duration of the demonstration.

"For us it was very unclear how the situation could develop," explains Alois Grünwald from the Tölzer police station.

He was also there himself.

The officers were able to enforce the barrier.

"Every now and then there were attempts by participants to get to the other side," says Grünwald.

In general, however, the police did not have to record a complaint.

Bad Tölz: Police are approaching with a large number

The counter demo is organized by Andreas Richter. The Tölzer wants to set an example. “I want to show that there are still people who think normally,” he says. "The majority is for the Corona measures and for vaccination," he emphasizes. There is no other way to get out of the current situation. He is particularly angry with conspiracy myths about vaccination. "If, with a reasonable discourse, we could convince only two of these walkers to get vaccinated and not support this madness, we would have gained a lot," says Richter. To this end, he announced: “We will now continue every Monday and hold against it.” For next Monday, January 17th, he has already registered a demo with the district office - with 250 participants. "We are trying to acquire clubsto join us and are also looking for voluntary stewards so that everything continues to run peacefully, ”says Richter, praising the police work in this context.

The counter-demonstrators received political support from SPD district councilor Filiz Cetin, who also appeared as a speaker.

“The walks are unannounced and therefore an administrative offense.

It's bad how these people try to subvert our democracy, ”she scolded.

In addition, Cetin accused the other side of showing solidarity with “right-wing radicals” with these walks.

Monika and Richard König from Lenggries were on the same side.

“It annoys me that the minority takes to the streets with their confused thoughts and wants to influence others,” says Monika König.

"The majority is vaccinated and as such we have to oppose it," she stressed.

Further walks in Lenggries, Reichersbeuern and Wolfratshausen

In addition to Bad Tölz, there were also unannounced “walks” in Lenggries and Reichersbeuern on Monday. The police estimate the participants in Lenggries at 120 and in Reichersbeuern at 40. “It was peaceful in both municipalities. Three officers were on site in Lenggries, and we sent a patrol over to Reichersbeuern, ”reports Grünwald. There were 800 "walkers" in Wolfratshausen. On the site, 450 citizens from Wolfrathausen and the surrounding area had formed a human chain, all connected with masks and scarves, as a sign of solidarity out of the pandemic.
