Corona measures in the Bundestag: 2G plus in the plenary hall

2022-01-11T05:45:33.057Z

Anyone wishing to attend meetings in the Bundestag in the future must have been vaccinated twice or have recovered - and have a negative corona test. Without current negative evidence, boosted and fully vaccinated convalescents are allowed to participate.

In view of the increasing number of corona infections, the security measures are also being tightened in the German Bundestag.

In future, only members of parliament and employees who have been vaccinated twice or have recovered and have been vaccinated once will have access to the plenary chamber during meetings.

You must also have a current negative corona test.

This emerges from a letter from the director of the German Bundestag, Lorenz Müller, to all 736 members of the parliament, as reported by the dpa news agency.

Exceptions for boosters

The only exemptions from the obligation to submit a test result are those who have been boosted or recovered and have been vaccinated twice. Those who have neither been vaccinated nor recovered can only follow the meetings from the stands from this meeting week if they can show a negative test result. Anyone who does not do this will no longer be admitted. In addition, FFP2 masks must be worn in all buildings of the Bundestag with immediate effect. The less secure surgical masks may no longer be used.

In the coming weeks, the Bundestag wants to discuss, among other things, its general compulsory vaccination.

However, the decision has been delayed, although Scholz had announced that this question would be resolved quickly at the end of last year in early 2022.

In the traffic light coalition there is no clear line on this issue, which is why it is planned to have group proposals drawn up from parliament.

So far, this procedure has mainly met with criticism from the Union.

According to SPIEGEL information, the SPD parliamentary group will hold a non-parliamentary meeting on Tuesday afternoon on the subject of mandatory vaccination in order to get a picture of the mood among the Social Democratic MPs.

The Union parliamentary group plans the same for Tuesday evening.

In other parliamentary groups, too, there are plans to have MEPs discuss the compulsory vaccination internally as soon as possible.
