Ski camps or graduation trips are among the highlights of my school days.

Due to the ongoing Corona crisis, the popular trips are now being canceled again.

Fürstenfeldbruck - "That is really, very unfortunate," says Walter Zellmeier, director of the Viscardi-Gymnasium Fürstenfeldbruck.

“The trips are mostly what you fondly remember.” Now he had to cancel the three planned ski camps for the five seventh grades at the end of February and beginning of March.

Traditionally, the destination was the Salzburg region.

But also trips abroad by high school students have to be canceled at the Viscardi-Gymnasium.

At least for the canceled ski weeks of the Viscardi-Gymnasium, nobody is left with cancellation fees.

“Thanks to the long-standing partnership on site,” says Zellmeier.

It would certainly look different with a new partner, says the school principal.

Because according to the ministry, cancellation costs are not covered by the state.

cancellation

At the Realschule Maisach, possible cancellation fees were prevented from the start.

"We were able to cancel the graduation trip of the tenth grade free of charge until the end of December," says director Doris Lux. With a view to the Corona situation, student and parent representatives as well as the school management met for a discussion at the beginning of December.

"Then we decided to cancel the trip," reports Lux. The destination for the sixth grade tenth would have been Berlin.

At the Puchheim grammar school, too, planning was carried out well in advance and the ski camp was canceled, explains director Monika Christoph.

The message from the Ministry of Culture with the request to cancel such trips, however, now hits students in the exchange program with schools in Spain or France.

Drive to Berlin

"It hurts in the heart because the students urgently need such a community experience," says Robert Christoph, director of the Max Born Gymnasium in Germering.

He now had to cancel the Q11 trip to Berlin and the ski weeks of a total of nine classes.

Monika Pfahler, director of the Fürstenfeldbruck technical and vocational school, describes the skiing trip in February as “the highlight of the year”.

This usually takes place on the day on which the half-yearly reports are issued.

“All adult students can ride,” says Pfahler.

It usually starts early in the morning in the direction of Austria and back again late in the evening.

But this excursion also falls flat.

Just like the final trips of the 12th and 13th grades to Rome, Dublin and Hamburg.
