Deadly horror crash: pedestrian is hit by a car and dies

On Tuesday there was a fatal traffic accident in the Wunsiedel district.

A 48-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured and died in the hospital.

Wunsiedel - Early Tuesday morning (January 11th) there was a fatal traffic accident in the district of Wunsiedel near Nuremberg *, as reported by the Upper Franconian Police Headquarters.

According to this, pedestrians took their dog for a walk on the district road WUN 18 near Elisenfels at around 4:30 a.m.

At the same time, a 33-year-old car driver was traveling south on the road from Arzberg.

In doing so, it detects the pedestrian.

How it came to the collision is not yet known.

The 48-year-old was seriously injured in the clash and was taken to hospital.

Here he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver reportedly suffered a shock.

The dog remained unharmed and was taken to an animal shelter.

According to initial estimates, property damage of around 6,000 euros resulted in the accident, the report continues. The police are now investigating how the clash came about. During the recording of the accident and the evacuation of the accident site, the district road was completely closed in both directions.  

The officers are currently looking for witnesses. According to the first findings of the Marktredwitz police, a second vehicle was driving in the same direction as the 33-year-old at the same time. The driver in particular is asked to contact the officers on (09231) 96 76 0. Anyone who can also provide information about the course of the accident is also called upon to contact the police. *
