Escape from prison and the thunderous silence: the questions that will make it difficult for the IPS commissioner

The IPS commissioner, Katie Perry, will appear tomorrow (Wednesday) before the government investigation committee for the escape of security prisoners from Gilboa Prison and will present its version of one of the most serious failures in IPS history.
Perry, who was appointed about a year ago, January 2021, to the position by former Homeland Security Minister Amir Ohana, was initially portrayed as the one who was caught in the escape incident, and those around her broadcast that the responsibility for the default lay at an intermediate level.

The prison affair
Four years after the sexual harassment case of prison guards at Gilboa Prison was exposed, State Attorney Amit Isman ordered the reopening of the investigation file.
A year after her appointment, and following the decision of the State Attorney, Commissioner Perry announced the opening of the dismissal process of the intelligence officer at Gilboa Prison at the time, Rani Basha.
Later, the IPS agreed to assist in the treatment of harassed prison guards.
Ironically, the shaky testimony of Gilboa Prison Commander Freddie Ben Sheetrit about two months ago before the committee regarding the sexual harassment of female prison guards led, among others, the IPS and the IPS leadership to take the initiative and advance the dismissal process.
