In view of the rapidly increasing corona numbers, Hamburg wants to reintroduce an obligation to wear an FFP2 mask on buses and trains.
Because it is often very tight in local transport, the Corona Containment Ordinance will be adjusted accordingly in the next few days, said Mayor Peter Tschentscher (SPD) on Tuesday after the Senate meeting.
It was initially unclear when the new regulation would apply.
Hamburg - Because of the more contagious Omikron variant, the red-green Senate had already recommended in December that only FFP2 masks should be worn in public transport.
So far, only the obligation to wear a medical mask applies in local transport.
This also includes surgical masks.
