Japan announced today the extension of measures to prevent foreign arrivals from entering its territory until the end of next February due to the increase in infections with the Corona virus.
"We will continue to implement the current border control policy until the end of next February... and take the necessary measures from a humanitarian point of view, taking into account the national interest," Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said today, noting that the government will also reopen large vaccination centers run by military forces. Self-Defense and its mass vaccination sites in order to accelerate booster-dose campaigns.
The government had recently imposed strict restrictions to limit the spread of the virus for a period of two weeks, after the emergence of hotbeds of infections among the ranks of the army and various regions.
Yesterday, Japan recorded 8,249 new cases of the virus, a remarkable rise in its daily infection rate.
