British Prime Minister Boris Johnson continues to get into trouble after it was revealed that his secretary had invited more than a hundred people to a party in the courtyard of his residence at Downing 10 during the Corona closure. Guests were asked to "bring your own alcohol" to a party held on May 20, 2020, in the midst of the first and tight closure. According to an ITV report, Johnson and his partner were among the participants in the event.

Johnson, who recorded a landslide victory in the 2019 election, has lost height in recent weeks following a series of scandals related to parties held at his residence. In a video leaked last month, his advisers were seen laughing and joking about a party that took place during the Christmas closure in 2020. The conservative prime minister has received angry criticism from many of the public and politicians, and Labor leader Kir Stramer has said he has lost the moral authority to lead the kingdom.

"After a very busy period, we thought it would be nice to take advantage of the wonderful weather and drink while maintaining a social distance in Garden No. 10 tonight," Johnson's secretary Martin Reynolds wrote in an email sent to invitees. "We joined us from 6pm and brought your alcohol."

At that time, most schools were closed, and pubs and restaurants were closed while maintaining strict social distance. The restrictions were so tight that the police prosecuted people who held parties, set up random checkpoints in certain areas and used skimmers to track beauty salons.

Reporting in the UK: Johnson attended another party during closing time

Johnson's office declined to comment on the ITV report.

Authorities are currently investigating reports of at least five parties in government offices during the closures.

Edward Arger, a health ministry minister, said he understood the hard feelings that emerged from media reports about the parties at Johnson's residence.

"I can understand the pain that will be caused by these reports and accusations, especially to those who have lost loved ones," he told Sky News.

"It would not be appropriate for me to respond to those ongoing conversations or to her ongoing investigation. We must allow the investigation to end."

Over the past few months, Johnson has faced criticism for his handling of a string of scandals, including awarding fat grants as compensation for the Corona to conservative party-affiliated members, renovating his apartment on Downing Street and allegations he intervened to ensure pets were evacuated from Kabul during the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in August.
