Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann has criticized the EU Commission's controversial plans for a “green label” for nuclear power plants.
"On the matter, I think the decision is wrong," said the Green politician on Tuesday in Stuttgart.
The EU Commission could take the decision.
"We cannot correct it." To what extent the federal level has influence, he could not judge, said the head of government.
Stuttgart - The proposal from Brussels provides that investments in new nuclear power plants can be classified as green if they meet the latest standards and a concrete plan for the radioactive waste is presented.
Investments in gas-fired power plants are also to be classified as climate-friendly for the time being.
Environmentalists have sharply criticized the draft - in view of the unresolved issue of the final storage of radioactive waste and CO2 emissions from gas.
There had been clear criticism of the planned classification of nuclear energy as a sustainable energy source from all three government parties in the federal government - the SPD, the Greens and the FDP.
With regard to gas-fired power plants, however, there were different reactions.
