It is not uncommon for shops to block the street.

Recently, a new food store opened in Tongzi Street near North Kwai Chung Market, but it became another nightmare for the neighborhood.

After the new store was stationed, store goods and rubbish piled up on the nearby sidewalks, and sometimes even the roads were not spared.

The district councillor, Liu Guimei, pointed out that the shops occupying the road and blocking the street are serious, and she has frequently received complaints from the neighbors. The neighbors have sought help from various government departments, but there has been no improvement so far. She urged the departments to escalate their actions, such as confiscation of street-blocking goods. and inter-departmental action to strengthen the deterrent before the situation continues to deteriorate.

The reporter of "Hong Kong 01" and Kwai Tsing District Councillor Liu Guimei visited the scene today (11th).

As seen at the scene, there seemed to be no accumulation of goods on the road outside the store involved.

However, in the pedestrian passages extending from the nearby back alley and Tongzi Street to Limu Road, more than 20 styrofoam boxes with store labels were found. During this period, a person who claimed to be an employee of the store involved promised that the store Starting tomorrow, the goods will not be placed on the sidewalk at the entrance, but will be placed in the back door of the store.

Neighbors were injured when they stumbled on the garbage discarded by the store

Liu Guimei pointed out that after frequent complaints to the FEHD by the neighbors, the store began to change the goods from outside the door to the corner of Tongzi Street and the nearby back alley (that is, near the back door of the store).

In the past, stores often put their goods on both sides of the sidewalk, and sometimes the road was also full of their goods.

She believes that such practices will not only hinder the location of other shops, but also affect pedestrians and motorists.

She described that there are many vehicles passing by on the nearby roads, and some neighbors were accidentally stumbled and injured by the garbage discarded by the store.

Liu Guimei said that the store involved was formerly a restaurant, and there were no street obstructions in the above-mentioned sections at that time.

However, when the food store opens, the store will leave the large and small goods outside the door (that is, the pedestrian passage) overnight, resulting in hygiene problems.

Neighbors have reported to the store owner about the road blocking problem, but they were met with vicious words from the other party.

The currently occupied back alley is a common road for neighborhoods to go to the bus station and Lei Muk Road. The accumulation of goods is inconvenient to them.

Liu Guimei pointed out that the nearby buildings were already affected by rodent infestation, and the long-term stacking of goods would exacerbate the problem.

Liu Guimei has reported the problem to various government departments, but the situation has not improved.

She said that although the FEHD had sent people to inspect the site and issued tickets to the merchants involved, the problem had not improved.

She described the store as "paying rent with fines" and "roads as warehouses", urging relevant departments to escalate their actions, such as confiscation of street-obstructing goods and inter-departmental operations with the police, to enhance deterrence.
