Tenants at the Millennium Tower in San Francisco look out the windows of their luxury apartments every day, and instead of enjoying the spectacular view of the city from them, they are anxiously looking for further signs of the impending disaster.

The 58-story skyscraper, inaugurated in 2009 as a luxury residential project in the heart of the financial district of San Francisco, is tilted 26 inches (about 66 cm) from its original angle

. Its current inclination stands at 3 inches (about 7 cm) per year.

To date, attempts to stabilize the tower, whose foundations are sinking asymmetrically, have been so unsuccessful that they have actually succeeded in aggravating the situation.

As a result, the stabilization work was halted last year until it was discovered why the rate of subsidence had increased as a result and how this could be remedied.

Last week the hamburger engineer sent a letter to the building management, in which he announced his decision to significantly cut the number of support pillars placed under the building in an attempt to prevent it from sinking.

Currently, there are 52 such support pages, and the burger offers to cut their number to just 18.

Those 18 support pillars will be made of steel and anchored directly to a rocky bed in the depths of the earth beneath the tower.

However, he added a warning in his letter that 18 pages may not be enough to provide support.

In such a situation, the stabilization work schedule will be longer and the rate of subsidence

and inclination of the structure will increase during this period .

The Millennium Tower has been feeling the effects of the tower's tendency for some time, and the movement of the structure has already caused the windows to crack and further damage.
