The National Association for Hong Kong and Macau Studies held the "Seminar on the Development of Democracy in Hong Kong under One Country, Two Systems" today (11th). Leung Mei-fen, a member of the Legislative Council of the Democratic Alliance for the Election Commission, said at the meeting that Hong Kong must practice its own set of democracy and strive to regain the inside and outside. "In the new democratic system under one country, two systems, we must prove that democracy is not equal to elections, and elections are not equal to an electoral system."

Leung Mei-fen said that if the democratic system is distorted, there will be anti-China and Hong Kong people who disrupt the Legislative Council and undermine the spirit of the rule of law in Hong Kong. What people want is democracy, but illegal democracy.” She also pointed out that the next Legislative Council must be different from the previous Legislative Council. “Why can’t the Western society, especially the Five Eyes Alliance, wait to smear the Legislative Council election because they are afraid of becoming a They will lose their Western electoral halo in Hong Kong when we have a real quality democracy."

Sheng Zhiwen: The new parliament passed legislation in a few days to solve deep problems

Sheng Zhiwen, chairman of Lan Kwai Fong Group, who once ran for the Legislative Council election committee, described the recent Legislative Council election as a "true election" and he was honored to participate in it.

He pointed out that the Legislative Council system since 1997 is not feasible. The biggest problem is that various parties have different understandings of "one country, two systems". In the past, there was no patriotic education in Hong Kong, resulting in a lack of national identity for Hong Kong people.

He pointed out that in the Legislative Council before the reform, every bill was also slapped, and it would take at least 4 to 5 months to pass it. He described the Legislative Council under the old system as a broken sniper attack that hindered the progress of Hong Kong.

He pointed out that the new Legislative Council system ensures that everyone is a patriot and can focus on solving deep-seated problems, and legislation can be passed in just one to several days.

He also praised the remaining 51 candidates from the Election Committee sector for being very capable, each with their own expertise, which can reflect what Hong Kong and Macau Director Xia Baolong referred to as the "colorful".

He believes that Hong Kong will eventually have universal suffrage with Hong Kong characteristics and prove to the world that democracy in Hong Kong is feasible.

Huang Yuanshan: Members strive for social recognition with actual achievements

Mr. Huang Yuanshan, a member of the election committee, said that this election focuses on economic and people's livelihood issues, and the discussion of political issues is relatively marginal. He believes that it is very good for Hong Kong's economic, social and people's livelihood development.

He predicts that in the future, the relationship between the executive and the legislature will gradually become more pragmatic and rational, but whether it can strengthen the leadership of the executive will depend on the actions of the executive department.

He believes that the government should take a drastic measure to dismantle the wall and loosen the ties to solve the bureaucratic problem. In addition, if the Legislative Council members are to be widely recognized by the society, they must make practical achievements in serving the society and demonstrate their urgency to the people. The waiting time for houses did not meet the expectations of the public.
