Thuringia is implementing the new quarantine rules on which the federal and state governments have agreed at short notice.
The Ministry of Health announced in Erfurt on Tuesday that it was about the contact persons and those infected in connection with the Omikron variant of the virus.
According to the ministry, the decree required for this should come into force on the same day for an initially indefinite period of time.
Erfurt - Thereafter, if there is a proven infection with the Omikron variant or if there is a specific suspicion for contact persons, a quarantine period of ten days applies.
A shortening to seven days is possible if a negative test result - PCR or antigen rapid test - is presented.
For girls and boys under 18 years of age, a negative test can be shortened to five days, the ministry said.
However, this does not apply to young people who work in hospitals, care facilities or integration assistance facilities during their training.

"With the new quarantine decree, we are implementing the nationwide regulations in Thuringia for handling the Omikron variant," said Health Minister Heike Werker (left).
By shortening the quarantine and the possibility of free testing, precautions are taken to ensure that the critical infrastructure remains functional.
