Wiesn boss Clemens Baumgärtner has clear ideas about this.

Munich - It's hard times for all Wiesn fans: Because of Corona, the festival had to be canceled for the last two years.

This year the event should take place again in the middle of Munich - at least if it is up to the festival director Clemens Baumgärtner (CSU).

Wiesn 2022: Early Oktoberfest in summer not an option

An Oktoberfest, which is brought forward to midsummer due to Corona, is not an option for Baumgärtner.

“There won't be an Oktoberfest in July.

I can say that for sure, ”said the Wiesn boss on Tuesday, January 11th.

“At the end of August, beginning of September, I can still imagine.

“But the prerequisite for this is also that our partners, such as the police, manage it.” The Munich economics officer is currently working flat out on an Oktoberfest.

He is firmly counting on an Oktoberfest in 2022. "We will learn to live better and better with Covid," explains Baumgärtner.

The Wiesn boss is also certain about one other thing: “There is definitely no Oktoberfest for those who have not been vaccinated, with the exception of small children.” Instead, Baumgärtner sees more of a folk festival for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered.

We need to have more checkpoints and be quick.

That means checking tapes or QR codes.

By the way: The date set for the festival is from September 17th to October 3rd.

Mayor Dieter Reiter (SPD) said last June that two years without an Oktoberfest would be enough.

He wants a Oktoberfest in 2022.
