A serious accident occurred in Lower Bavaria on Tuesday afternoon.

A drunk driver dragged a woman in a wheelchair with him.

Straßkirchen - A drunk driver drove his pickup truck onto the sidewalk in Lower Bavaria.

He caught a wheelchair user and dragged it along.

The 57-year-old was seriously injured, the police said.

Drunk driver grinds wheelchair user over 100 meters - investigations are ongoing

On Tuesday afternoon (January 11th) the woman crossed a pedestrian traffic light on the B 8 in Straßkirchen (Straubing-Bogen district *). The 80-year-old driver of the van was waiting at the red traffic light behind several other cars.

Then he drove past the other vehicles on the sidewalk for an unclear reason and caught the wheelchair user.

According to the police, he only noticed it after about 100 meters.

A breath alcohol test showed that the man was heavily drunk, it said.

The officers ordered a blood sample.

The 57-year-old woman was taken to the hospital.

According to the information, her injuries were not life-threatening.
