The Russian Federal Agency for Biomedicine announced today the registration of the first test system to detect the mutated “Omicron” strain of the Corona virus in Russia.

The agency said in a statement today, carried by Sputnik agency, that the Russian Federal Authority for Consumer Protection in the healthcare field has registered its medical device for the first time.

The new test system allows, within an hour and a half, with a high sensitivity, to identify genetic variants of the Omicron and Delta strains and distinguish between them.
