The Commander of the Peacekeeping Forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, Russian Major General Andrei Serdyukov, announced that the implementation of the missions of his forces in Kazakhstan allowed the Kazakh security services to stabilize the situation in the country.
In a statement today, Serdyukov said that the withdrawal of his forces from Kazakhstan with their equipment will take place after carrying out their missions there and in coordination with the Kazakh side and by means of Russian military transport aircraft, pointing out that the peacekeeping forces continue to guard the most important government, military and socio-economic projects in Kazakhstan.
Kazakh President Kassym-Gomert Tokayev announced in a speech to parliament earlier today that the withdrawal of the peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will begin in two days and that they have completed their main mission in his country.
