Settlers under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces bulldozed today the southeastern side of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron in the West Bank.

The director of the Ibrahimi Mosque, Sheikh Hefzy Abu Sneina, told Wafa that groups of settlers and the occupation forces carried out excavation and bulldozing work in the southeastern side of the courtyards of the Haram in order to expand settlements and implement a Judaization scheme to establish an elevator for settlers.

In turn, the director of the Hebron Endowments, Sheikh Jamal Abu Aram, said that the excavations and deliberate sabotage carried out by the occupation in the vicinity of the “Tyre al-Qalaa” area is only the beginning of excavations and destruction that will affect large areas of the Ibrahimi Mosque, violating all international covenants and resolutions that call for its preservation and protection. This cultural heritage.

Last August, the occupation authorities announced a Judaization scheme on an area of 300 square meters of the Ibrahimi Mosque and its facilities, including the construction of an electric elevator to facilitate settlers' incursions.

It is noteworthy that Hebron was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2017 and on the World Heritage List in Danger in the same year due to the risks posed to the Old City and the Ibrahimi Mosque as a result of the practices of the Judaizing occupation and the repeated violations that aim to obliterate its Arab identity.
