Support local musicians and artists: With the cultural fund, the city wants to motivate cultural workers from Miesbach to set up events.

In the culture-poor Corona year 2020, the cultural autumn on the Klosterwiese - here the band Wolfhoundz - received a very positive response.

Because of the bad weather, however, there was a loss of 5200 euros, which the city took over in the end.

The fund should now take effect in advance and help to reduce financial risk.

The city of Miesbach wants to support its corona-tainted cultural landscape.

To this end, a culture fund is to be set up to provide financial support to those working in the arts from the district town.

In addition, there is to be a youth band festival that enables young musicians to find their way to the Waitzinger Keller.

The Miesbach city council decided on both points in its most recent meeting.

It was a long road that the SPD's request to promote Miesbach artists had to go.

As reported, the city council had rejected a corresponding request from the SPD parliamentary group, but commissioned the culture committee to work out a corresponding concept.

In a special session, the proposal of the cultural office was discussed and sent back to the city council.

The concept envisages the establishment of a cultural fund.

In total, depending on the pending resolution on the 2022 budget, a total of 10,000 euros should be budgeted to support Miesbach artists or groups financially with a maximum of 500 euros each.

It doesn't matter whether the events are concerts, exhibitions or cabaret.

Reduce cost risk

The background is also the experience of the cultural autumn in September 2020 on the monastery meadow.

The open-air concert received a lot of praise, but due to the bad weather it brought a loss of 5200 euros, which the city took over as a gesture of goodwill.

Such nasty surprises - also due to corona-related audience restrictions - mean imponderables, because of which a concert, a theater performance or the like should not fail in advance.

Doubts about the big stage in Waitzinger Keller

While the Kulturfonds received broad approval, some council members quarreled with the event for young bands that Markus Seemüller (FWG) had suggested when the topic was first called in the city council in July 2021 and expressly called for the Waitzinger Keller as a stage (we reported).

"This is a large hall with a large stage," said Kick van Walbeek (Greens) and spoke out in favor of removing the link to the cultural center from the proposed resolution - "such concerts were more hidden with us".

Second Mayor Astrid Güldner (Greens) saw it similarly: "You should ask interested bands beforehand whether they want to be in such a respectable hall."

Introduce young people to the cultural center in a targeted manner

But it is precisely the big stage with all its technical possibilities that is the attraction, replied Seemüller: “You have to try to see if something like this arrives in Miesbach.” The Waitzinger Keller will not replace the cultural center for the Golden Parkbank in the Haindlkeller, “but we want it Introducing young people to the Waitzinger Keller ”.

Erhard Pohl (CSU), who ten years ago as an ex-youth advisor, had accompanied the conversion of the Haindlkeller into a youth club, also spoke out against setting the Waitzinger Keller as a general venue and suggested that the culture fund and festival should be voted on separately Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller (CSU) also admitted.

Paul Fertl (SPD), on the other hand, welcomed the fact that they wanted to give the cultural fund a chance: “It's about showing that we as politicians want something to move in Miesbach.” This symbol is now being introduced.

When it comes to young bands, we will see how the offer is accepted.

Aline Brunner (FWG), who helped to organize the cultural autumn in 2020, welcomed both resolutions: "It is important to do something for the young - after only rehearsals have been possible for two years."
