The Cabinet approved a number of steps that are positively and directly reflected in the marketing of the citrus season, after discussing the direct procedural steps to intensify the marketing efforts of the season.

In its weekly session today, headed by Engineer Hussein Arnous, the Council requested the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection to purchase large quantities of farmers directly according to the popular prices of various types and items, store the largest possible quantities of them, and increase the quantities offered in the Syrian halls and outlets for trade in all governorates.

The Council instructed the Ministry of Public Works and Housing to place about 100 working trucks in public sector companies at the disposal of the Syrian Trade according to a specific time schedule to transport the marketed citrus to the governorates and to feed the cardamom markets with sufficient quantities of the crop, provided that the state’s public treasury bears the transportation costs in full to ensure that the product reaches consumers Affordable.

The council also requested running cars to activate direct distribution in cities and neighborhoods, selling at cost, providing support for the season’s marketing process from the Exports and Local Production Support Fund, and obligating juice factories to work with maximum energy by using locally produced citrus fruits.

The Council of Ministers decided to form a committee in the governorates of Tartous and Lattakia to organize work and coordinate with the concerned authorities to ship the marketed quantities of farmers through Syria for trade, in a way that contributes to providing the material to the consumer at reasonable prices and benefits farmers and farmers.

The Ministry of Economy and Foreign Trade was also assigned to coordinate with the Federation of Syrian Chambers of Commerce and whoever is needed to discuss ways to export the largest possible amount of the season to foreign markets, taking into account quality conditions and requirements for sorting and packaging.

Eng. Arnous confirmed the follow-up to the implementation of support mechanisms on the ground and taking direct measures that will reflect positively on the marketing of the citrus season, reconsidering the current crop pricing mechanisms and finding real exits for bottlenecks in its marketing.

In another context, the Council agreed to start distributing the second batch of heating oil next week and affirmed the completion of the planned organizational plans in various regions for their essential role in urban economic development and reducing building violations and slums, and requested the Human Development Committee to prepare an integrated strategy from the relevant ministries to enhance the awareness aspect Educational and social rehabilitation, especially for the younger generations, and the consolidation of principles, ethics and the value system in order to preserve the family entity.

The Council stressed that all ministries coordinate with the Ministry of Communications and Technology to achieve the strategy of digital transformation, accelerate the completion of automation and electronic archiving, and expand the scope of electronic services, in addition to securing the requirements of occupational safety and security for workers and achieving the maximum levels of protection for them.

While the council was briefed on the reality of the stored quantities of wheat, which are sufficient for the coming months, it stressed the concerned authorities to enhance the strategic stock of this material for the largest possible period and to continue the frequency of supplies.

The Council discussed a draft legislative instrument to amend the law on the tourism registry with the aim of controlling and limiting the violations committed and the draft legislative instrument that includes amending the fees for services provided by the Ministry of Industry. It also discussed the draft law on cutting the final account of the state’s general budget for the fiscal year 2018.
