The mutant virus Omicron has aroused vigilance in the whole city. Chief Executive Carrie Lam revealed this morning that the fifth round of anti-epidemic funds will be released, and details will be announced on Friday (14th).
DAB Legislative Council member Chan Hang-pin wrote to Carrie Lam, hoping that the fifth round of the Epidemic Prevention Fund could be considered for inclusion in the cross-border passenger transport industry and kindergartens.
The government has urgently tightened various measures in response to the outbreak of Omicron, which has affected many catering and service industries.
Carrie Lam said that the fifth round of anti-epidemic funds will be divided into two parts. The first is industries directly affected by the tightening measures, including scheduled premises ordered to close, and the second is industries that have been frozen, including tourism.
Cross-border passenger transport, kindergarten cost pressure is huge
Chen Hengbin wrote to Carrie Lam, hoping that the government will consider extending the subsidy to the cross-border passenger transport industry and kindergarten practitioners and institutions.
He said that under the epidemic, people's exchanges between China and Hong Kong have been greatly reduced, but the cost of cross-border passenger transport has not dropped significantly, and the livelihood of frontline drivers in the past two years is urgent.
As for kindergartens, the situation is similar. At least 8 kindergartens have closed in the past two years. Many private organizations operating kindergartens have to face pressures such as rent and wages. Even public organizations have to rely on subsidies to operate.
Chen pointed out that if kindergartens cannot operate, many people in the industry and their families will be seriously affected, and students will also be unable to study in their original schools.
