President Daniel Ortega took office as Nicaraguan presidency along with his wife Rosario Murillo, who took office as vice president.
It is Ortega's fifth term, his fourth consecutive term and his third continuous reelection.
In his speech, Ortega criticized the United States and the European Union for the new sanctions against his administration officials.
