Sources in the Ministry of Finance said today (Tuesday) that due to the increase in the number of isolated in the economy, it was decided to increase the entitlement to payment for isolated workers in one day: both employees and the self-employed.
Once the decision is approved, each employee will be entitled to payment for the isolation period from the first day, and not from the second day as was the case in the past.
As for the self-employed, who until today were not entitled to compensation for the days of isolation, a source in the Ministry of Finance said that in the near future the outline of the days of isolation for the self-employed will be approved retroactively from July and will be three days of isolation paid by the state.
From the beginning of the Omicron wave, the state will fund four days of isolation for the self-employed and pay them NIS 430 per day of isolation.
According to the source in the Ministry of Finance, the average length of isolation is about 4 days, so the proposed outline covers most of the costs of the employed.
The cost of the move for an additional day of isolation for the self-employed and employees is estimated at NIS 200 million.
