The uncertain corona situation throws the international craft fair through the bill.
The organizer announced a postponement, a new date has been set.
Munich - Back in November, the Gesellschaft für Handwerksmessen (GHM) canceled the popular Munich trade fairs Heim + Handwerk and Food & Life due to Corona *.
The same fate befell the Internationale Handwerksmesse (IHM) two years earlier, which also fell victim to the virus.
The upcoming edition of the IHM should take place, albeit later than originally planned.
The GHM announced that the fair will not take place in spring.
"At the previously planned time in March there is no planning security," announced the organizer on Tuesday (January 11th).
Because of the ongoing pandemic and the unforeseeable development with the Omikron variant, the conditions would have worsened considerably.
The new date for IHM is July 6th to 10th.
The new congress and event format Zukunft Handwerk, which was to take place parallel to IHM for the first time in 2022, will be postponed to the coming year.
The event is now scheduled to take place from March 8 to March 10, 2023 at the ICM in Munich.
International craft fair is postponed: complementary, political events
"There is currently no telling whether the situation will ease up by March," GHM boss Dieter Dohr justified the move. The President of the Central Association of German Crafts (ZDH), Hans Peter Wollseifer, regretted that the fair cannot take place on its regular date. But the shift is correct. You are now planning the summer event at full speed. "Our craft businesses need trade fairs to present their products, innovations and services and to make use of the contacts," he emphasized.
In order to offer the skilled trades the right stage in 2022, political events will take place on the new date of the IHM.
These include the opening event, the general assemblies of the ZDH and DHKT (German Chamber of Crafts) and other top political discussions.
