The vaccination center Ebersberg has admitted to having inoculated expired vaccine from the manufacturer Biontech.

The error was caused by incorrect labeling.

Ebersberg

- Due to incorrect labeling, the Ebersberg vaccination center inoculated in the period from January 4th to 6th, 2022 vaccine Comirnaty from the manufacturer Biontech, which had exceeded the expiry date by four to six days and had already expired on December 31, 2021. The facts were determined by the operator Tresec himself during a routine internal quality control and reported to the Ebersberg district office. Tresec reported that on Monday evening.

This affects citizens who were vaccinated between January 4th and 6th, 2022 in the Ebersberg vaccination center, the Poing branch or by a mobile team with the batch SDEJ8 of the Comirnaty vaccine from the manufacturer Biontech *.

The citizens concerned would be individually written to and informed, it was said that a special hotline

had been set up on

Health damage or subsequent negative effects are excluded, says Tresec.

From a medical point of view and according to the medical director, a reduced effectiveness of the vaccination is not to be expected with otherwise proper storage and handling of the vaccine and in comparable cases it did not occur elsewhere.

To check the effectiveness of the vaccination, the vaccination center offers all affected citizens a free titer determination, which can be used to find out whether the patient has formed sufficient antibodies with the vaccination.

If necessary, a free re-vaccination is possible.

The correct and safe use of the Corona * vaccine is a top priority for everyone involved in the vaccination center.

The supply chain, storage, handling and logistics were carried out with close monitoring in principle on the basis of the four-eyes principle.

All processes are closely monitored internally in quality management, according to the operator of the Ebersberg vaccination center and its branch in Poing.

The incorrect labeling was discovered during a routine internal follow-up inspection.

In the present case, it is a matter of human error by two employees who had not carried out a specific service instruction, with which the correct expiry date is calculated after removal from the freezer storage, as instructed.

“The responsible employees were fired.

In addition, additional precautions have been taken to monitor labeling and storage even more closely.

The vaccination center is in close contact with the manufacturer and the responsible authorities, ”says Liam Klages, head of the vaccination center.
