Washington, SANA- US Ambassador to Moscow John Sullivan refused to consider the negotiations that took place yesterday between Russia and the United States

Washington-Sana

The US ambassador to Moscow, John Sullivan, refused to consider the negotiations that took place yesterday between Russia and the United States on the file of security guarantees in Geneva "failed", considering them "fruitful".

In response to a question about whether the negotiations failed, the US ambassador said in an interview with a Russian TV channel, "No, this is not true at all, and I have no impression that this is the direction in which we are moving."

Sullivan considered that his country seeks to work with the Russian side, and that the best way to achieve this is through non-public discussions such as those that took place yesterday.

Yesterday, Russia and the United States ended their negotiations on the file of security guarantees, which lasted for more than seven hours in Geneva, where the head of the Russian delegation, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, announced in a press conference at the conclusion of the negotiations that his country called on the United States to show the maximum possible responsibility in the current circumstance. It should not underestimate the risks associated with the potential for increased confrontation.
