The retrial of Roman Zadorov, who is accused of murdering the girl Tair Rada in Katzrin, continued this morning (Tuesday) with the testimony of Dr. Maya Freund

. A report on the blood stains at the scene, but later it turned out that she had erred in one of the catalogs on display: a toilet paper dispenser with blood droplets, categorized as having been in the cell where the murder took place, was in fact a dispensary from a nearby cell.

Freund explained to the court that she had not worked for several years, and therefore she would speak according to her memory. According to her, there were a lot of exhibits in the portfolio - about 600 compared to 30-25 in the "regular" portfolio. She said investigators had hoped to identify a profile of another man from Rada's blood samples - but were unsuccessful. The same 60 samples taken for this purpose were discarded. "They were not properly preserved and were no longer considered exhibits so I threw away," she explained.

She also said that nothing was found in the samples under Rada's nails. "If there was anything, the heavy blood of the deceased who was there masked it. We sent to the forensics who also found nothing. "All the DNA found was that of the deceased," she said, apologizing that this exhibit had been lost. "The defense searched for this exhibit and did not find it. I take the blame that maybe among the 60 test tubes I threw were also these test tubes."

She admitted that the toilet paper dispenser with the blood droplets classified was indeed not from the cell where Tair Rada was murdered.

"I wrote down all the exhibits taken from cell number 2 and also included exhibit 35 taken from cell three," she explained in the cross-examination, "there were double markings and due to too many markings I was wrong."

Tair Rada was murdered inside a toilet cubicle at Nofei Golan School in Katzrin on December 6, 2006. Almost three years later, the Nazareth District Court convicted Roman Zdorov, a foreign citizen and resident of Katzrin, of murdering the girl.

The verdict set aside a dense fabric of evidence that led to his conviction.

Since then, however, the affair has continued to occupy the media and public opinion, and despite the firm verdict - the justice system has discussed it several more times and left the conviction intact.

Zdorov, who worked in flooring at Rada's school, was arrested several days after the murder, confessed to the murder and even remarried.

He then retracted his confession, and as the trial progressed the defense was able to raise doubts among the public that Zadorov was indeed the killer.

Last summer, Chief Justice Hanan Meltzer ruled that a retrial should be held.
