A 15-year-old Latina girl who was walking her dog in Texas was shot 22 times in the back. "They are cowards", laments his stepfather


“I tried to revive her. I couldn't save her. I tried with all my might to keep her alive ”, assures the mother of the young woman, who went out to look for her after hearing the shots.

A 15-year-old Latina teenager was shot to death while walking her dog near her home in a southwest neighborhood of the city of Houston, Texas, according to local police.

, was identified as Diamond Álvarez by her family, who said that she had arranged to meet an ex-boyfriend that same day.

The attack occurred around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, when neighbors reported hearing a series of shots, Houston police told local channel ABC13. 

Among those who heard the shots were Álvarez's family, who knew she was outside walking their dog, named Peanut, so they worried about her. 

The mother told the police that she called her several times on the phone and did not get a response.

Then he went out with the young woman's stepfather to look for her and they found the dog, who had come back alone running. 

After searching the neighborhood in search of her, they found her lying lifeless on the side of the road next to a community park.

So far, the police believe it was a shooting from a moving vehicle.

It is suspected that it may have been a dark colored car, but surveillance cameras in the area are still being analyzed. 

The young woman was a sophomore, with honors, at Madison High School, and planned to attend cosmetology school.

The family said in an interview with the local FOX 26 channel that they knew that

Diamond had argued with an ex-boyfriend and that he sent her a text message

saying that he would meet her there.

The mother said that the police spoke with that person but have no evidence to indicate that he could be involved.

," Tito Moczygemba, Álvarez's stepfather, told KPRC 2.

Houston police have not reported any suspects.
