From his simple rural house in the village of Al-Ma’asra, which belongs to the city of Wadi Al-Ayoun, Hama Governorate, Sumar Muhammad started his project to produce vermicompost, as it achieves a good financial profit compared to the costs.

Muhammad explained to the SANA Economic Bulletin that he thought of a small project to support him in his livelihood at an appropriate cost, and after learning about the success of vermicompost projects in several governorates, he purchased vermi worms in several stages and prepared for them the appropriate environment within small plastic basins in his home, while providing them with appropriate food from the leftovers. Vegetables, fruits, tree leaves, cardboard, etc.

He said that Fermi is a mixture of decomposing and digested organic matter inside the worm’s body, which is loaded with many types of microorganisms, hormones and enzymes that stimulate plant growth, pointing out that he established ponds with a larger area to accommodate the increasing numbers after the worms multiply, in his desire to expand the project and reach the marketing stage. .

And about his experience in using worms fertilizer in the agricultural field, Muhammad said that he experienced an improvement in the health status of plants and trees, an increase in their resistance to pests and diseases, a saving in production costs, as well as an improvement in the taste of fruits, in addition to a 40% saving in water consumption because vermicompost contains a substance that retains water until needed. The plant has it, considering that vermi is one of the most important materials used to revitalize the soil that was destroyed by using chemical fertilizers and pesticides by returning living organisms to it.

Muhammad asked the concerned authorities to adopt this type of project because of its benefits for the citizen and the state alike, because vermi contains nutrients and is free of pathogens and has great economic benefits.
