In Ingolstadt, 201 cases were vaccinated with a Biontech vaccine that had recently expired.

A free blood test is now offered to those affected.

Ingolstadt - At the vaccination center in Ingolstadt *, doses of the Biontech vaccine * that had just expired were administered at the beginning of January.

As the government of Upper Bavaria announced on Wednesday, a vaccine that had expired the day before was accidentally administered in 201 cases on January 4th and 5th.

In addition to a similar incident at the Ebersberg vaccination center, this is the only case in Upper Bavaria where the Corona * vaccine was given whose expiry date was slightly exceeded.

According to the Ministry of Health on Tuesday, these are currently the only known cases across Bavaria.

The incident in Ingolstadt took place in the Unsernherrn branch of the Ingolstadt vaccination center.

People who were vaccinated there with Biontech on the days concerned would be contacted, the city announced.

When removing the vaccine from the refrigerator, employees overlooked the note about the expiry date.

The medical management of the vaccination center emphasized that the vaccinations were harmless to health.

With regard to the effectiveness of the vaccine, previous experience suggests that despite the short-term expiry of the vaccine, there is vaccination protection.

To check, however, those affected are offered a free blood test to determine the antibodies and, if necessary, re-vaccinated.

A similar case from Ebersberg only became known on Tuesday.

According to the operating company, around 1,800 people were vaccinated with a vaccine between January 4th and 6th, which had expired on December 31st.

There, too, the operating company ruled out damage to health or subsequent effects.
