Starnberg - packaging with slight transport damage or printing errors: what is a nuisance for manufacturers, meant an unexpected joy for numerous girls and boys who had to spend Christmas and beyond in the hospital. The Altöttingen association PädCare received around 800 Lego and Duplo sets from Erdinger Refugee Aid last November and distributed them to children's clinics in Bavaria in time for Christmas Eve, including around 100 to the Starnberg Clinic.

"This is another great action from you and it is really very nice that you have thought of us this time too," said Professor Dr. Thomas Lang, chief physician at the Clinic for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at the Starnberg Clinic, on seeing Kevin Hartung and his mother Claudia when the donation was handed over. Almost a year ago, the PädCare association founded by Kevin Hartung had donated around 500 soft toy figures from the Disney film "Frozen" to the children's clinic.

Before the health and pediatric nurse got behind the wheel of the new club car in his third year of training - which, incidentally, was financed by a donation campaign by a couple from Altötting - all 812 toy boxes had to be decorated for Christmas, with an age indication for the orientation of the nursing staff and to be provided on a Christmas card. "My course colleagues helped us at short notice and wrapped more than 300 gifts," said Hartung. “My mother took care of everyone else every day after work until late at night!” For everyone, this meant five weeks of “powerpacking”. For logistical reasons, some parcels were then sent by post.December in person and the packages were placed under the Christmas tree at the children's ward punctually for the gift giving.
