Careful, motorists: Anyone who is out and about on Hanfelder Strasse in Starnberg at night shouldn't overdo it with the accelerator.

In the future, Tempo 30 will apply there at a later hour.

Starnberg - In the coming months, a night speed limit of 30 km / h will be imposed on Hanfelder Straße in Starnberg.

The background to this is the noise protection for residents, and this is not the first attempt.

The now urban Hanfelder Straße was already set to speed 40 between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. more than two years ago, but that did not last long, namely less than a year. Because: The city can to a certain extent do what it wants on its streets and does not need the approval of the district office as long as no national roads such as the B 2 are affected. But there is one exception: noise protection. That was probably overlooked in 2019, which is why the signs disappeared again quite quickly under pressure from the district office, because the authorities did not have enough evidence. The city submitted a new application backed by a new noise report. The goal this time: 30 km / h, because 40 is actually not intended for that.

The application is currently being examined in the district office. According to its spokesman, Stefan Diebl, the processing is well advanced; A decision can be expected in February. The city is just waiting for it. Spokeswoman Lena Choi: "The city of Starnberg can only act accordingly once the approval has been given."

The fact that it is very noisy at night on Hanfelder Straße is nothing new - there are already restrictions in development plans for the location of living and sleeping areas.

The decision of the district administration will then also show whether the regulation can also apply to Söckinger Strasse and Andechser Strasse, as the city once intended.

After the western bypass was cleared, the city took over the former state roads as municipal roads and is planning changes beyond the bicycle protection strip previously created on Hanfelder Straße.

The speed limit at night has always been part of these considerations.
